Admission Requirements Tuition and Fees Program Structure
You'll receive clinical nursing experience in community and institutional settings each term. In addition to working days, you may be required to work some evening, night and weekend shifts in the clinical settings.
Before each clinical course, you'll get two opportunities to pass the Medication Administration Safety Screening (MASS) exam. You will be required to delete your registration in the clinical course, if you fail the MASS exam.
Applications are accepted for Fall semester only.

High school requirements |
You need to have a minimum 75% average in five subjects, with no grade below a 50%. The subjects include:

Mature student requirements |
Mature students must be over the age of 21. You must also have an overall high school average of 75% with no grade below 65% in English 30-1 and no grade below 50% in Chemistry 30 or Science 30, and Biology 30. |
Applicants with post-secondary credits |
Applicants with post-secondary credits will have their average calculated based on a 60-40 split, with 60% of your GPA based on required high school courses and 40% of your GPA based on your last 24 post-secondary credits. |
Applicants of Aboriginal ancestry |
There are five seats available for qualified applicants of Aboriginal ancestry in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program every year. Applicants must be accepted by April 15, or the positions may be filled with students of non-Aboriginal ancestry. View more information on the definition of Aboriginal ancestry. |
English language proficiency |
Instructors teach primarily in English. You can qualify for English Language Proficiency if you have completed three or more years of full-time education in English, including your Grade 12 year at a Canadian school or an approved school outside of Canada. You can also meet proficiency requirements with accepted scores from these tests:

Nursing Year III tuition will be equal to the tuition charged by the University of Alberta.

Nursing Year IV tuition and fees will be paid to the University of Alberta (except the lab fee paid to Keyano College).
Please note, these estimates are based on 100% enrollment for all semesters and do not include mandatory laboratory fees. Laboratory fees can range from $24 - $107.
* Students will be charged a medical/dental benefit fee unless they opt out by demonstrating alternative coverage - deadlines can be found at Student Cares website.
** These programs have a mandatory Spring semester if students intend to graduate on time.

Program structure
Please be advised of the following changes for the Fall 2020/21 semester:
- Theory courses will be delivered online
- Face-to-face learning experiences are required for specific courses and clinical practice education experiences
- The Winter 2020/21 semester delivery, and subsequent semesters, will be re-evaluated and may be delivered in a similar format

Note 2: An equivalent STAT (*3) course may be accepted in lieu of NURS 211. Note 3: Open Elective to be selected from a discipline of the student's choice that transfers to the University of Alberta. It must be completed by the end of Year 3 in order to progress to Year 4. |

University collaboration
The program begins with admission to Keyano College in Year one as a student in the University of Alberta Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program with Keyano.
For the first three years, you are a registered Keyano student. You apply for official admission to the University of Alberta in year three for your fourth year. As long as you meet the criteria, you continue at Keyano College in your fourth year.
