Power Engineering

Co-op Program update related to COVID-19 - March 18, 2020 
Thank you for your patience while we work through the logistics of resuming delivery of Keyano’s Power Engineering Coop program.

Both Power Engineering 3rd and 4th Class will resume classes on Friday, March 20. The delivery of the program will proceed as scheduled with accommodation for time missed, if necessary. The format of delivery will be as an online/blended technology format to ensure that academic programming integrity is maintained.

Power Engineering - Computer Managed Learning

The Power Engineering - Computer Managed Learning program is a self-paced, online program where you will have the opportunity to study power engineering to gain your 4th Class or 3rd Class Power Engineering Certification. We offer tutorial assistance through appointments with instructors throughout your time with the program, and all online exams are supervised at Keyano College or proctored off-campus.

Power Engineering - Coop

The four-month Power Engineering - Coop program is an in-class program where you will work toward gaining your 4th Class or 3rd Class Power Engineering Certification. If eligible, you may also qualify for a six-month paid work placement.

Power Lab 200 Hour Course

The Power Lab 200 Hour Course is a program that will help you acquire your 4th Class Power Engineering Certification if you have completed your Part A and B theory courses, but do not have the six-month stream experience needed to become certified. The course is offered as an interactive training lab and covers multiple topics.

Power Lab 40 Hour Course

The Power Lab 40 Hour course is a one week program that will credit you with 40 of 200 hours required in the Power Lab 200 Hour Course. It is provided to students unable to commit to the full five weeks. This course is broken into week 1, week 2, week 3, week 4 and week 5 and is required to complete over 12 months.

Admission requirements

Acceptance requirements into CEPLAB40W1 are the same as entrance into CEPLAB200.

Acceptance requirements into CEPLAB40W2 require CEPLAB40W1 completion.

**Optional 4-week Preparatory Math for Power Engineers**

This course is strongly recommended for individuals who are considering enrolling in any of the Power Engineering programs (Coop or CML). The course will cover the foundational math concepts necessary to support success in these program areas. It is suggested students have successfully completed either Math 20-1 or Math 20-2 prior to taking this course.

Power Engineering 2nd Class Paper A1 Preparation Tutoring

Get tutoring help for the PE2A1 exam!

This exam is required for 3rd class Power Engineers to move to a 2nd class upon successful completion of the 1st PE2A1 exam. PE2 Certification required specified relevant work experience and the passing of 6 long answer examinations of which PE2A1 is most difficult.

Prerequesite: Valid 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate

Required materials: scientific calculator similar to Casio FX 991
