Message from the Dean

 Arlene Starkes

Welcome, my name is Arlene Starkes and I am the Dean of the School of Health & Human Services at Keyano College! I am very pleased that you are interested in our College, where academic excellence, service to the community, leadership, a global perspective, professional development, and a commitment to lifelong learning are priorities. The School of Health and Human Services offers certificates, diplomas and collaborative undergraduate degrees across many areas, including Early Learning & Childcare, Educational Assistant, Social Work, Nursing & Paramedicine. All our students benefit from work-integrated learning experiences and placements in various community agencies and educational and health care organizations. We have a proud history of providing the health system and community partners with excellent graduates committed to making a difference in the lives of the patients, clients, and residents they serve. Graduates are positioned throughout the health and education systems and community, providing service, care, and leadership. Keyano College alums make a difference in their communities!
Our faculty members are outstanding teachers and scholars focused on student success. They have impressive records of research, as well as service to the community and their professions. Their dedication and innovation are demonstrated through their interactive, hands-on approach to course delivery and their ability to connect the learner to the industry that the student will one day join. For each of our programs in the School, the market's demand for knowledgeable, dedicated and skilled individuals continues to be very strong. Matching high-quality education experiences with a demanding and rewarding career setting is a challenge I feel privileged to be a part of!
Our support staff members are dedicated to helping students navigate the academic experience. Our students have the benefit of a full range of support services that are tailored to their needs. Our learning environment is well positioned with state-of-the-art simulation environments to support the student's learning journey. We have well-established relationships with our industry partners who share their practical environments and allow us to offer exciting work-integrated learning opportunities that are supportive of the students.
