Admission Requirements Tuition and Fees Program Structure

 Our 20-week Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) certification program gives you the skills to provide basic, pre-hospital emergency care to patients. You will learn how to provide care in both urban and rural settings, where definitive care may be minutes or hours away.

You will use anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology knowledge to make patient diagnoses in the field. Learn how to provide pre-hospital care when treating traumatic, environmental or medical emergencies.

At graduation, you will be prepared to write the Alberta College of Paramedics exam.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the program, you must:

  • Be at least 18-years-old;
  • High school diploma or grade 12 equivalent or GED
  • Have received your Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certificate from an approved training program;
  • Achieve your English Language Proficiency with the following scores:
    • TOEFL: iBT - minimum overall score of 79, with no score below 19
    • IELTS - minimum overall score of 7.0
    • CAEL - minimum overall score of 60
    • MELAB - minimum overall score of 80
  • Complete course-provided medical forms;
  • Provide proof of your up-to-date immunizations;
  • Complete a police information check with vulnerable sector clearance no earlier than 90 days before the program; and
  • Complete N95 mask fit testing.

Please note, these estimates are based on 100% enrollment for all semesters and do not include mandatory laboratory fees. Laboratory fees can range from $24 - $107.

** These programs have a mandatory Spring semester if students intend to graduate on time.

Program Structure

  • Theory courses will be delivered online
  • Face-to-face learning experiences are required for specific courses and clinical practice education experiences
  • The Winter 2020/21 semester delivery, and subsequent semesters, will be re-evaluated and may be delivered in a similar format
