Tuition Tax Receipts (T2202 and T4A)

T2202, Tuition and Enrolment Certificate

The tax form T2202 is automatically produced for the sum of eligible amounts applicable to the respective calendar year for each student. T2202 forms will be available through Self-Service on the last day of February of the following year.

On February 28, 2022 T2202s for both credit and non-credit courses will be available online to students for the 2021 taxation year.

Exceptions - Students meeting the following criteria will need to contact the Office of the Registrar for T2202 generation:

  • Students for whom we do not have a Social Insurance Number
  • Students for whom we do not have a Canadian or USA mailing address
  • Students on financial hold

Understanding your T2202

To qualify for a T2202 students must

  • be enrolled in courses at the post-secondary level, and;
  • spend not less than 12 hours a month in the course, and;
  • as part of enrolling in one or more post-secondary courses, are enrolled in a program that is not less than 3 weeks.

Please Note:

  • Courses and Programs where a student is paid a wage does not qualify for a T2202.
  • Courses and Programs where a student does not pay tuition and fees does not qualify for a T2202.
  • Student must have paid over $100 in tuition and fees in a year to qualify for a T2202.
 

Credit Students

T2202 is the official tax receipt and will include the following information:

  • Name of program
  • Student number
  • Student Social Insurance Number 
  • Student name and address 
  • Institution name and address
  • Start and end dates for 2021
  • Eligible tuition and fees (Campus Rec, Technology, Materials, Exam, Health & Dental fees up to a maximum of $250)
  • Number of part-time and/or full-time months

 

Please Note:

  • Academic Foundations, College Preparation, LINC and English for Academic Purposes courses do not meet CRA’s criteria as “courses at a post-secondary level” and therefore those students are not issued a T2202. If a student had taken college prep classes in addition to certificate/diploma/degree classes in 2021, only the certificate/diploma/degree tuition and months will show on the T2202.
  • Students enrolled in courses starting in 2020 and ending in 2021 or starting in 2021 and ending in 2022 will have the tuition and fees divided and allocated on a pro-rata basis across the months in which the courses were delivered and attended, regardless of the year in which payment of tuition fees was received from the student.
  • Months where a student is enrolled in a coop work term are not reported on the T2202.
 

Collaborative Degree Students

 
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (3rd & 4th year) – T2202 is issued by NAIT
  • Bachelor of Education (3rd & 4th year) – T2202 is issued by the U of A
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (4th year) – T2202 is issued by the U of A
 

Continuing Education Students

 

T2202 is the official tax receipt and will include the following information:

  • Name of eligible program or course
  • Student number
  • Student Social Insurance Number
  • Student name and address
  • Institution name and address
  • Start and end dates for 2021
  • Eligible tuition and mandatory fees (excluding GST)

Brokered programs and courses are not issued a T2202 by Keyano College:

  • Ed2Go
  • MindEdge
  • UGotClass

T4A Statement of Pension, Retirement, Annuity, and Other Income

Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations requires Keyano College to issue T4A slips for all discounts, honorariums, scholarships, bursaries and awards disbursed to students in a given calendar year .

Non-Canadian citizens will not be issued a Social Insurance Number unless they seek employment in Canada. If you are granted a scholarship, bursary or award and do not have a SIN please visit the Service Canada website for information on how to apply for a SIN.
