Keyano College’s Blake Crossley, an IT Infrastructure Analyst, has an alter ego named Buddy “The Elf” Hobbs who has just been named in YMM Magazine’s “Best Of” issue as Best Community Cheerleader.

In the past, Buddy “The Elf” Hobbs has taken time out of his busy schedule to help raise money for the Northern Lights Health Region, Santa’s Anonymous, The Autism Society, amongst others. He plans to undertake a trek from Anzac to MacDonald Island Park in November along with smaller runs in Saprae Creek and Fort Chipewyan. Buddy has been thinking about accomplishing events like this since 2007 and finally decided to follow through on his goals with the help and support of others. Buddy said, “I think back to Terry Fox going across Canada on one leg, or Rick Hansen or anyone who has a physical or mental challenge. I remember doing a presentation at Keyano College on Orientation Day and saying, this isn’t about you, it isn’t about me, it’s about all of US!”

If you happen to be on any of Fort McMurray’s trails or walking paths, you might just come across Buddy. He can be found day or night, summer or winter, rain or shine.  If you do, say hello because he’ll be sure to respond with a smile while he’s passing you on one of his many runs.
