Differential Aptitude Test (DAT)

We offer the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT), which is now an online test. The DAT is a tool that measures your abilities and skills, such as verbal, numerical ability, abstract reasoning, mechanical reasoning and space relations. 

The DAT is used with adults looking at a wide range of career and planning options, including some industrial firms.

The online DAT test consists of 6 sections and together takes around 3 hours to complete.

Admission requirements

You would register for the DAT if your chosen program requires it as a prerequisite.

Registration

You can choose to:

  • Call the Office of the Registrar  on 780-791-4801 to register
  • Register in-person at the Office of the Registrar (8115 Franklin Ave., Fort McMurray)

Testing schedule

Monday to Fridays with start times at 9 am and at 1 pm. We are closed on statutory holidays.

Use the online booking system to schedule your DAT test. The Office of the Registrar will provide you the payment confirmation number when you register. You will need it while booking online. You must book exams at least three days before the writing date. Here is a guide to help you in the booking. Contact us by email, if you have issues with booking.

Out-of-town registration

If you are from outside the Fort McMurray area, you can book an out-of-town DAT exam by following these steps:

  1. Contact our offices and submit your registration fee.
  2. Contact a college or university testing centre in your area and arrange for a supervisor to manage the online  DAT test. The supervisor must not be a friend, relative or co-worker.
  3. You and the supervisor must complete the Out-of-Town DAT Exam Form and you must send it by email .
  4. We will send the DAT test instructions to your chosen college or university.
  5. Take the DAT test at the time you arranged with your local college or university. The date and time should be during our working hours. We work Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  6.  You are responsible for any other fees charged by your local college or university.
  7. We will email your test results on completion, within 2 business days.
