Advanced Care Paramedic

Admission Requirements Tuition & Fees

Advanced Care Paramedics (ACPs) are vital team members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) who provide advanced life support, medical and trauma care in a variety of health-related settings. The ACP program is an advanced care level diploma. This two year blended learning program offers students the opportunity to remain in their respective communities for the majority of their educational program. Graduates can then apply their acquired knowledge and skills within the scope of an ACP to various health related settings.

  • High School Diploma with at least 50% in the following:
    • English 30-1 or 30-2
    • Biology 30 or another 30-level science
    • Math 20-1 or Math 20-2
  • HCP Level C (Heart and Stroke, within 6 months of program start date)
  • PCP Certificate from an approved training institute
  • Resume highlighting field experience
  • Valid Class 4 driver’s license
  • Registered unrestricted PCP with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP)

Mandatory Selection Day
After meeting admission requirements, Nursing and Allied Health will contract you to provide additional details on the Mandatory Selection Day. This day will include a written examination, written questionnaire, and interview.
 English Language Proficiency
  • TOEFL: iBT – minimum score of 79 with no score below 19
  • IELTS – minimum score of 7.0
  • CAEL – minimum score of 60
  • MELAB – minimum score of 80

In addition to meeting English Language Proficiency students must also present appropriate admission requirements for their chosen program. See page 14 for other ways.
