(Fort McMurray, AB – November 12, 2019) – The 2019 Keyano College Gala, presented by Birch Mountain Enterprises Ltd. on November 2, raised more than $200,000, an increase of $55,000 from last year.

The event, held at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre, saw almost 1,000 guests attend to raise funds for post-secondary education in the Wood Buffalo region.

All funds will be directed towards student awards and bursaries at the College.

“Through this amazing support, we can help more students reach their goals. That will have an important positive impact on our community,” said Dr. Trent Keough, President and CEO, Keyano College. “I can’t say enough about our remarkable partners, donors, and friends. We couldn’t do this without their generous support. These funds will directly impact our students’ lives and provide opportunities that otherwise would not exist.”

Dr. Keough also acknowledged the hard work of College’s Advancement team and the many volunteers who helped make the 2019 Keyano College Gala such a success.

This year, the event offered a fun, country spin on the traditional Gala. Guests enjoyed a country inspired dance from the Keyano Huskies Cheer squad, as well as performances by headliner, Canadian country music star George Canyon, and multi-CCMA award-winning group, Emerson Drive.
