Fort McMurray, AB – June 6, 2023 – Keyano College is pleased to announce donor support for the 2023-2024 Keyano Huskies  basketball teams. The contributions will help further the development of the teams and provide the necessary resources to maintain their competitive edge.

The Keyano Huskies are proud to welcome Matt Pate, IG Wealth Management, back as the presenting sponsor of Women’s Basketball. Matt Pate, IG Wealth Management, is a long-time supporter of Keyano Huskies athletics and recently extended his commitment to the team for an additional three years.

“I am inspired by the incredible generosity of Matt Pate IG Wealth Management and grateful for their continued support,” said Dwayne Vigilance, Head Coach of the Huskies Women’s Basketball Team.

The Women's Basketball Huskies started the 2022-23 ACAC Regular Season by winning eight of their first nine games and qualified for the ACAC Women's Basketball Playoffs for a sixth-straight season. Their seven road wins were tied for the second-most in the 15-team conference.

The college is excited to welcome NorthStar Ford to its basketball family. Their generous commitment as presenting sponsor of The Men’s Basketball Huskies will greatly support the team, which has shown remarkable performances in the past.

“Their contribution will help drive success and development in our basketball program and provide countless opportunities for our student-athletes,” said Jeremy Wielenga, Head Coach of the Huskies Men’s Basketball Team and ACAC North Division Coach of the Year.

The Men’s Basketball Huskies, coming off their second perfect season in a row, have enjoyed considerable success recently, including going 20-0 in the 2022-23 ACAC regular season and scoring a division-best 1,824 points. NorthStar Ford’s contributions will further strengthen these achievements.

“I cannot thank our generous donors enough for their unwavering support and dedication to our athletic program. Their contributions allow us to give our student-athletes the tools they need to succeed on and off the court. We are truly grateful for their commitment to our mission and vision for the future", adds Jonathan Lambert, Keyano College’s Director of Athletics & Recreation.

Keyano College looks forward to welcoming donors for all Huskies teams over the summer months as coaches prepare for the new season. The college remains committed to providing the best facilities, resources, and support for student-athletes, and support from donors contributes significantly to these efforts.
