Statement from Keyano College – B.Ed. Bridging Program

Posted On Tuesday July 30, 2019

In the spring of 2017, Keyano College and Advanced Education entered into a conditional grant agreement intended to support the preparation and entry of Fort Chipewyan residents into the field of educational professionals by providing a one year transition (bridging) program in 2017-2018 to be followed the next two years by 60 credit units of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) courses, leading them to be fully prepared for entry into Year 3 of the B.Ed. program in Fort McMurray or Edmonton main campus.

Due to low enrolment, contractual requirements for the funding were not met and the Government cancelled the program.

The cancellation of the B.Ed. Bridging program is the only aspect of the program affected. The Bachelor of Education delivered at Keyano is still available and is a collaborative degree with the University of Alberta.
