Suncor is providing Keyano Theatre with a one-time grant this month to help offset the loss of this season’s performances due to the onset of COVID-19 and the uncertainty of what 2021 will bring. Upon hearing the news, Alan Roberts, Director, Keyano Theatre & Arts said, “This is truly an early Christmas present we were not expecting. Suncor Energy has always been a massive supporter of the arts and specifically Keyano Theatre and we cannot thank them enough. With live performance venues having gone dark this past year, it has become extremely challenging to survive and a donation like this will help greatly with hopes for a big rebound in the new year.”

Keyano Theatre prides itself on attracting performances that allow the RMWB to experience world- renowned entertainment. Examples include the Canada wide tour of Australian acrobatic artists to Canadian music icons. Dale Mountain, Interim President and CEO of Keyano College said, “Keyano Theatre has the mandate to attract artists and entertainment from around the world and make it available to our region. COVID-19 prevented that from happening this past year and a donation like this from Suncor will help ensure that a bad year like 2020 doesn’t prevent us from having a rebirth in 2021.”

Suncor has offered these unrestricted dollars for use by Keyano Theatre as it sees fit to ensure that great entertainment can once again engage our community as soon as it is able to safely welcome back an audience.
