Keyano Huskies and KidSport Wood Buffalo announce partnership

The Keyano College Huskies are the latest organization to pledge their support to KidSport Wood Buffalo as a strategic partner, alongside Harvard Broadcasting as media partner.

KidSport is a locally run social profit, which aims to remove barriers and enable all young people in the region to have the opportunity to participate in organized sports.

December 4 marks the beginning of the Huskies year-long partnership with KidSport as ambassadors. During this time they will commit to volunteering, fundraising, and raising awareness for the youth program.

To celebrate the partnership, the Huskies will be hosting a kick-off event on January 17 and 18. The weekend-long festivities will include a community barbecue, family activities, and the Huskies men’s and women’s basketball home game.

We’re excited about this partnership as it’s a cause close to our hearts, said Jim Knight, Athletics Manager. “As student athletes, our Huskies will make fantastic ambassadors who can truly vouch for the positive impact that organized sports can have.

“We look forward to our event on January 17 and 18 and getting more involved throughout the year by raising awareness and vital funds for this organization.”

Executive Director for KidSport Wood Buffalo Jamal-E-Fatima Rafat said, “It’s fantastic news that the Huskies and Harvard Broadcasting have joined us in our mission to make sport activities accessible for every child in the region, and sharing our vision of ensuring that no child is left on the sidelines.”
