Convocation Honours
Keyano College recognizes outstanding graduates who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and meaningful contributions to the college community.
The Governor General’s Academic Medals were established in 1873 to promote academic excellence across Canada.
They are among the most prestigious awards students can receive and are presented at four levels:
- Bronze (secondary school)
- Collegiate Bronze (college diploma programs)
- Silver (undergraduate level)
- Gold (graduate level)
The Collegiate Bronze Medal is awarded to the student graduating with the highest overall average from a diploma-level, postsecondary program (minimum two-year, full-time).
A Valedictorian is the student selected to represent their graduating class at convocation, delivering a speech that reflects on the student journey and celebrates the achievements of the graduating cohort. This role honors individuals who demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership, and meaningful contributions to the college community.
Valedictorian selection process is underway.
What to Expect on Convocation Day
- Graduates do not require a ticket to attend their own convocation
- Each graduate is eligible for two (2) free guest tickets for their convocation ceremony.
- Once RSVP closes, additional tickets may be available for purchase on a first come, first serve basis subject to availability. We kindly ask you to refrain from requesting additional tickets until notification of availability has been sent.
- Only guests with a ticket will be granted admittance to the Auditorium. All attendees, including children requiring a seat, must have a ticket.
The 2026 Convocation Ceremony will be held at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre (SSWC). Parking at Keyano College is available at several lots around the Clearwater Campus. - For those without the app, HonkTAP signs are available in Keyano Facilities Main Lobbies. Simply tap or scan your phone to pay without downloading the app.
- Graduates should proceed directly to the gowning room, located in Field House 3 to sign in with Keyano College Volunteers by last name. If they have not already picked up their assigned regalia and tickets, they can do so here.
- Graduates are requested to arrive and sign in 45 minutes prior to their Ceremony Time to ensure adequate timing for gowning and seat assignments.
Graduates are required to present either their Keyano College Photo ID or their Government Issues Photo ID at the sign in desk to receive their ceremony card with their name, program and seat assignment.
- Ceremony Card – At the sign in you will receive a ceremony card containing your seat assignment, name and program. This card designates your position in the processional and how your name will be announced when crossing the stage. It is important that you keep your ceremony card safe and avoid crumpling or creasing it. If you lose it, please inform a volunteer in the gowning room immediately.
- Gowning Room – Volunteers will be at Field House 3 to assist with Gowning and any thing that you need during this time.

- Graduates will be lined up based on their ceremony cards in the gowning room. This will be determined by last name and by program. The processional will follow the Grand Marshall who holds the ceremonial mace, platform party and dignitaries into the Field House 3 for the ceremony.
