Nearly $790,000 Awarded to Students in 2025-2026 as Keyano Tops $3.4 Million Over Five Years

Keyano has released its 2025–2026 Annual Award Impact Report, highlighting $783,039 distributed through 453 student awards that helped learners achieve their educational goals.

“Every award represents an investment in a student and their future,” said Keyano Associate Vice President of Public Engagement Chantal Beaver. “The generosity of our donors and community partners helps remove barriers for students, allowing them to focus on their education and build the skills they need to succeed. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who continues to invest in Keyano students and their potential.”

The 2025–2026 funding included $397,085 through 258 student awards, $192,100 in government scholarships, $177,854 in Excellence Scholarships, and $22,000 through Local Leaders Entrance Awards. As part of this investment, 35 students entering Keyano College from high schools across the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo received Excellence Scholarships, which cover first-year tuition for local students who demonstrate academic excellence with a high school average of 80 per cent or higher.

That support has already changed lives. Social Work student Kandis Chaffee says the support has encouraged her to ensure the knowledge and skills she gained will be used to give back and make a positive difference in the lives of others:

“This bursary allows me to focus fully on my studies as I work toward becoming a registered social worker, and it strengthens my passion to bring healing, hope, and meaningful change to the community that has shaped who I am today.”

Over the last five years, Keyano has distributed more than $3.4 million in student awards. Support continues to grow through the generosity of donors and community and industry partners, including the establishment of new endowments that will provide opportunities for students for years to come.

Among those new investments is a $50,000 endowment established by Bouchier and Finning Canada to support women pursuing skilled trades at Keyano. Beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year, the endowment will provide two annual awards, including one specifically for a female First Nations or Métis student.
