- Virtual appointments will be conducted using Microsoft Office Teams or Zoom.
- In-person appointments will take place in the Academic Success Centre (CC119).

Academic Content Specialists
Academic Content Specialists provide one-on-one and group tutoring to support student learning in key subject areas. They offer guidance on study skills, time management, and academic writing, while modeling effective learning strategies. Working closely with faculty, they align support with course objectives, help address learning challenges and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of academic services in a positive, inclusive environment.
Academic Content Specialists are available September – June.
Please be respectful and arrive on time. Failure to show up within 15 minutes of the start time will require you to reschedule. The time slot will then be made available to another student.
Failure to attend an appointment without notice will be recorded as a "no show." After two "no shows," it will be at the discretion of the Academic Content Specialist whether to allow further appointments for the remainder of the semester.
Academic Success Coach
The Academic Success Coach at Keyano College supports students from registration to graduation with personalized strategies to boost academic performance and overall success. Through one-on-one sessions, workshops, and presentations, the Coach helps students build key skills like time management, study techniques, and academic integrity, while connecting them to campus resources such as Wellness Services, Accessibility Services, and the Library.
The Coach also plays a vital role in career development by supporting Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and program-related employment preparation. Tools like the Strong Interest Inventory (SII) help students explore career paths aligned with their interests, education, and work preferences.

Peer Tutors
Our Peer Tutoring Program connects students with fellow students who have demonstrated strong knowledge in specific courses or programs. These peer tutors have successfully completed the course material and can clearly explain key concepts while offering academic support.
Tutors work in-person at the Academic Success Centre (ASC) and are scheduled weekly around their own class commitments.
This free service offers one-on-one and group tutoring for students who need help with course content that falls outside the scope of Academic Content Specialists. The main goals of the program are to:
- Help students review and understand course material to succeed in credit courses
- Support—but not replace—classroom instruction
- Promote collaborative learning among peers
- Foster academic confidence and independent learning skills
Tutoring is offered based on tutor availability. If a suitable peer tutor is not available, alternative supports—such as academic strategy appointments or assistance from instructors—may be recommended.
Note: Demand for tutoring can vary each semester. We strive to provide support in as many subject areas as possible, depending on tutor availability.
Becoming a Peer Tutor
If you're a returning student who enjoys helping others succeed, consider becoming a peer tutor! Below are the requirements for applicants:
- You must be a current Keyano College student during the academic year you wish to tutor.
- A faculty recommendation is required.
- You must have successfully completed the course with a minimum grade of 75%, unless an instructor specifies otherwise.
- You must provide proof of your course grades (an unofficial transcript from Self Service is acceptable).
Note: We interview and hire qualified candidates based on demand. Availability of positions may vary depending on student needs and the subject areas in demand each semester. Check the Careers page regularly to apply online.

The ASC & Academic Integrity
The ASC models and respects academic integrity. This means that staff cannot do the work for students, tell them the answers or what to write. Students also need to follow the standards of academic integrity, and if students are asking for levels of support that are deemed to violate academic integrity, staff will be unable to assist further and will explain the academic integrity policy.
