University of New Brunswick logoThe Forestry & Environmental Management 2+2 Pathway allows students to begin their studies at Keyano College in Fort McMurray before transferring to the University of New Brunswick (UNB) to complete a degree in Forestry or Environmental Management.

Students spend their first two years completing foundational science and environmental courses at Keyano. Upon transfer, they enter UNB’s nationally recognized Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Management (ForEM) to complete either a:

  • Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BScF), or
  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Managment (BScEM)

Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and credentials to pursue professional roles in forestry, natural resource management, and environmental science across Canada and internationally.

What You'll Learn

Build a strong foundation in science at Keyano before advancing into UNB’s nationally recognized programs in forestry and environmental management. Graduates of this pathway will be prepared to:

Gain advanced skills in:

  • Forest and wildlife ecology
  • Soil science, hydrology, and forest economics
  • Geographic technologies (GIS, GPS, remote sensing, LiDAR)
  • Growth, yield, and forest estate modeling
  • Sustainable resource planning and policy development
  • Fieldwork and applied research in UNB’s 1,500-hectare teaching forest

Admission Requirements

To qualify for this pathway, applicants must:

  • Complete the Keyano Environmental Technology diploma (or equivalent courses in science and environmental studies).
  • Ensure their courses are pre-approved as equivalent and transferable to UNB.
  • Be in good academic standing with:
    • Overall average of 70% or higher
    • Minimum grade of 60% in each course
