Our Power Lab gives students the practical steam time they need to move forward in their Power Engineering careers. Whether you're pursuing a full certificate program or only need hands-on lab hours, we offer flexible, high-quality training options that fit your path.

What is the Power Lab?
The Power Lab is a state-of-the-art training facility that simulates real-world plant operations. Students work directly with live steam systems to meet Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) requirements for certification.
Choose Your Path
We offer two distinct Power Lab options:
Credit-Based Power Lab
Included as part of the following programs:
- 4th Class Power Engineering – Comprehensive
- 3rd Class Power Engineering – Co-op
- Power & Process Engineering Diploma

✔ Tuition paid as part of your program
✔ Scheduled after completing theory coursework
Non-Credit Power Lab
For learners needing only the lab portion to complete their certification or who have completed theory elsewhere.

Credit Earning Power Labs
Get hands-on steam time as part of your credit program. Whether you're working toward your 4th Class, 3rd Class, or Power & Process diploma, our Power Labs are built right into your learning path. You'll register for your lab once you've completed the theory portion — no separate application required.
Non-Credit Power Labs
Already completed your theory elsewhere or just need steam time? Our non-credit Power Labs offer flexible 200-hour and 40-hour options through Continuing Education. Perfect for industry professionals or learners looking to meet ABSA requirements without enrolling in a full program.
