Bridge to Canadian Nursing Program

The Bridge to Canadian Nursing Program is designed for internationally educated nurses (IENs) preparing to practise as Registered Nurses (RNs) in Canada. This one-year hybrid program helps you transition smoothly into the Canadian healthcare environment with a curriculum focused on ethical care, evidence-based practice, cultural competence, and critical thinking.

With online learning, in-person labs, and clinical placements at Keyano College’s Clearwater Campus, you’ll build the skills and confidence to write the Next Generation NCLEX (NGNCLEX) exam and apply for RN registration in Canada.

What You’ll Learn

Students in this program will build on their prior nursing education and experience to develop the professional competencies required to practise safely and effectively in Canadian healthcare settings.

  • Patient-centered care in Canadian healthcare
  • Medical/surgical, maternity, and mental health nursing

Admission Requirements

Applicants must present one of the following:

A recognized 3- or 4-year nursing degree (WES, IQAS, NNAS, or regulatory documentation required), OR

Current or former RN registration in Canada

Additional requirements:

Character reference from an approved professional

80% minimum on a proctored baseline nursing exam

Pre-entry interview (if selected)

Child Welfare and Police Information Check (dated after July 1 of the admission year)

Strong digital literacy

Meet English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements (see full list in source content)

Meet clinical requirements (BLS certification, immunizations, N95 fit test)

Tuition and Fees

Domestic Students: $7,680 per year

International Students: $21,120 per year

  • IENRN 105: Cultural Competence & Indigenous Health
  • IENRN 106: Jurisprudence & Ethics
  • IENRN 107: Mental Health Nursing
  • IENRN 108: Integrated Clinical Practice

Year 1

Term III

  • IENRN 109: NGNCLEX Exam Preparation
  • IENRN 110: Transition to Practice

Students must earn at least 80% in IENRN 109 and a cumulative GPA of 2.3 to graduate.

Yes. This program is designed for internationally educated nurses (IENs) with a recognized 3- or 4-year nursing degree. You’ll need to submit transcripts assessed by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS), National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS), or a Canadian regulatory body.

Yes. Graduates are prepared to write the Next Generation NCLEX (NGNCLEX) and apply for licensure through provincial or territorial regulatory bodies.

Due to the full-time workload and clinical components, working while enrolled is not recommended. However, part-time completion may be possible with permission.

Applicants must meet English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements, such as minimum scores in IELTS, TOEFL, CELBAN, or equivalent tests.

Yes. Keyano College offers student residences near the Clearwater Campus. Early application is encouraged.
