Fort McMurray, AB

The Keyano Huskies Men’s Volleyball team have been recognized as the top team in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) National Rankings.
After being ranked second and third in previous rankings, the Huskies rose to the top spot following straight-sets home victories against the SAIT Trojans and Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre.
At 6-0, the Huskies currently hold a four-point lead atop the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference’s (ACAC) North Division. They’re also one of two undefeated teams remaining in the conference.
Of their 23 sets played this season, the Huskies have won 18 of them. Of their five dropped sets, the Huskies rank third in the conference for fewest sets conceded.
Much of the Huskies’ success can be attributed to rookie sensation Arthur Silveira, who leads the conference in kills (94), kills per set (4.09). He’s also tied for fourth in digs with teammate Kaylen Desmarais-Joseph, and fifth in service aces per set (0.48).
Setter Kai Rosnau ranks third in the conference with 9.13 assists per set.
Up next for the Huskies is four consecutive road games to close out the first semester. They’ll play the first two of those four this weekend, taking on the Medicine Hat Rattlers and Briercrest College Clippers.
