Keyano College Joins The National Amii Consortium To Address AI Skills Gap
Fort McMurray, AB
Keyano College is excited to join the inaugural consortium for the AI Workforce Readiness (AIWR) program, an initiative led by the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii).
Amii is one of Canada’s national AI centres and a leader in AI literacy. The AIWR program, supported by Google.org, brings together over 30 Canadian post-secondary institutions, representing over 500,000 students, to establish a unified approach to AI skills development and reach an estimated 125,000 students annually.
Keyano College's students and instructors will gain access to specialized, open-source curriculum resources, enabling the integration of AI capabilities into existing coursework.
“Joining the AIWR consortium highlights Keyano’s commitment to our students’ future,” said Dr. Sandra Efu, interim president and CEO at Keyano College. “We are ensuring graduates are equipped with foundational AI knowledge that is fast becoming a necessity for success in every industry.”
Cam Linke, CEO of Amii, commented, “Amii’s goal has always been to make AI education accessible, and the AI Workforce Readiness program is the culmination of that commitment. This foundational work ensures that post-secondary students are equipped for the future.”
This collaboration will enhance Keyano’s curriculum, providing students with real-world AI applications, case studies, and assessments, giving them a competitive edge.
