Academic Excellence

The Student Awards program provides financial support to students entering or continuing a program at Keyano College. With the on-going commitment of donors, Keyano College continues to ensure that students have the financial resources they need to further their education and achieve their career goals. Award Contribution Programs

These awards are invoiced annually. The minimum award amount is $1,000 per award. Most annual awards range from $1,000 to $5,000. This can be set-up through private donors or through company donations.

The establishment of a permeant award through an endowment fund that will provide an ongoing source of funds that will exist in perpetuity. Endowment accounts can earn on average 4-10% interest depending on the market. Awards are funded by annual interest up to 4% of the total endowment value.

This allows the donor to build an endowment fund over a number of years by giving money on an annual basis to an endowment fund while distributing the annual award. E.g. Intention to create a $25,000 endowment to distribute an annual award of $1,000. 5-year commitment of $6,000 annually. $5,000 will build the principle and $1,000 will be distributed to a student. In year 6, the principle of the endowment will be $25,000 and it will be used to generate a $1,000 award annually. Over time, the principle of the account will grow as capitalization payments are transferred from the interest to the principle account and the value and/or number of awards distributed will increase.

All student awards are subject to a charitable tax receipt for each payment made. Donors will also have the ability to pick their own award criteria, award name, with the donor name and award listed in our student awards booklets and Impact Report. Donors will also receive student thank you messages from chosen recipients in each academic year.
