I'm glad that I have the opportunity to attend Keyano College this year to study Social Work. After 2 years, I will have my Social Work diploma, after I will go on to pursue my Social Work degree. The opportunity at Keyano allows me to stay home in Fort McMurray with family and friends for my first 2 years after high school, while not having to pay extra to live away from home. Keyano has been important to my family for a long time. My mom graduated as a nurse from Keyano almost 25 years ago, and has been working as a Nursing Instructor at Keyano for the past few years. My older brother has just completed a 2-year Business diploma at the college and is now completing his Business Degree through a combined program with Keyano and NAIT. Keyano College has been good for our family and I look forward to all the opportunities it will continue provide to me.

Being accepted into Keyano College provides many opportunities for the future, especially securing meaningful employment. It also opens many doors for me, particularly with the career I have been wanting to pursue for years. Several of my family members are Power Engineers, so I am thrilled to be given the chance to follow in their footsteps. Among other things, this program will help me to achieve financial security, allowing me to provide a comfortable life for myself and my family. Having grown up in Fort McMurray, I understand the importance of the oil and gas industry and the role it plays in making the community flourish. Giving back to the industry that helped to ensure an enjoyable childhood is important to me. Being considered for 60 for 60 is an amazing opportunity, and I’m excited to be joining the Keyano team.

Being accepted into Keyano College is the starting point of my studies in engineering in a supportive, local environment. I will be able to learn from experienced instructors and connect with peers who share my academic goals. I can take advantage of smaller class sizes and more personalized instruction and get the guidance I need as I start my studies. Rather than having to move and adjust in a new city or town, I am able to remain in the place I call home for the past 12 years therefore making my transition to post secondary much smoother. Staying in my community also means my education will be far more affordable than moving away and I. I will be to focus more on my studies and less on the financial burden. Additionally, I can still stay closely connected with my friends and family, all of whom have supported me in my education journey and otherwise. This opportunity puts me on a direct path toward building the skills and knowledge I need for a future career in engineering, while staying connected to my community. I am very grateful for this opportunity and confident it will have a great impact as I begin my postsecondary journey.

My ambition is to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and I am so excited that Keyano College will be supporting the first steps towards this goal.
My acceptance to Keyano College also means I can focus more on studying and being a good student. without the stress of having to deal with the cost of tuition. Attending Keyano and being granted the 60 for 60 scholarship means a lot to me and for that I am truly grateful.

Getting accepted into Keyano College for the Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) program is a huge opportunity for me. I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands and fixing things, so this program is a perfect fit. It’s even better that I get to go to school right here in my hometown, where I’ve grown up and want to stay. Being able to train locally while working as an apprentice means I can build my career close to home and stay connected to my community.

Going to Keyano College is my first step toward becoming a nurse, and what makes this path even more meaningful is the influence of my sister. She has been a role model for me, and her advice to study here was all I needed to feel confident in my decision. Seeing her now in her final year of nursing, with no regrets and no struggles to critique her experience, makes me even more excited for this upcoming journey. What excites me most about Keyano is the supportive learning environment and its strong connection to the Fort McMurray community, which makes it feel like the perfect place to grow both academically and personally. Beyond academics, being able to continue playing the sport I love at the collegiate level is truly a blessing, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunities Keyano will provide in both my education and athletics.
