  • One hour before the ceremony in the Arts Centre (AC 139); or
  • On May 7, 8 or 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Office of the Registrar.

You must sign a Gown Rental Agreement and show photo ID at the time of pickup.

Under your gown, please wear business clothing. The gowns are made of a heavy material, so consider wearing lighter fabrics.

Following the ceremony, please return your gown to AC 139. If your gown is not returned to the Office of the Registrar before May 14, your student account will be charged $100. Your diploma will not be sent until the account balance is settled.

Location and arrival time

Please go to the Arts Centre (AC 139) one hour before the scheduled ceremony start time.

  • Morning ceremony – arrive at 9 a.m.
  • Afternoon ceremony – arrive at 12:30 p.m.

You can pick up your gown if you have not yet done so. You will be asked to sign a Gown Rental Agreement and show photo ID.

Guests

Each student gets four free guest tickets. You may purchase up to four additional tickets for a charge of $10 plus HST per ticket after April 15.

Infants and children require a ticket and must be accompanied by an adult other than the graduating student.

Your guests may not accompany you to the Arts Centre for gowning. Guests can go directly to the Keyano Theatre lobby.

Personal belongings

Coat check is available at the ceremony.

You may not carry anything with you into the ceremony. This includes purses, cell phones, cameras, etc. Please safely lock up all valuables or leave them with your guests before arriving to the Arts Centre.

Flowers

The Personal Florist will be selling bouquets of flowers before and after the ceremonies. Flower sales will end five minutes before the start of the ceremony and resume after the ceremony.

Ceremony instructions

Ceremony volunteers will be on hand to give you directions for the ceremony.

When your name is called, you will cross the stage. The Program Chair or Dean will shake your hand and give you a diploma cover with a congratulatory letter from the Vice President, Academic. The College President and Chair of the Board of Governors will also shake your hand and congratulate you. You will then pause to have your picture taken with the President and Chair.

Reception

Following the ceremony, there will be a reception at the Elements Dining Room. Two areas will be available for photos.

Diplomas and certificates

The diploma cover you receive at convocation will contain a letter from the VP of Academic. Your diploma or certificate will be available once all final marks are received and graduate status is determined. The parchment will be mailed to the address provided on the Application for Graduation.
