Equipment Safety Training

Forklift Safety Certification |
This course is designed to meet the needs of counterbalanced, sit-down, and rider type lift truck operators. Students must successfully complete the theory and practical components of the course. Course content focuses on inspections, proper handling, loading and safe operating techniques. Students must wear personal protection equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
This course is eligible to earn 0.3 Continuing Education Unit Credits (CEU's) for Alberta's Water / Waste Water Operator Certification.

Rigging and Overhead Crane Safety Certification |
This 1-day course will allow students to identify the responsibilities of a rigger and demonstrate knowledge of safe practices in basic rigging as outlined by Occupational Health and Safety. Students must demonstrate and comprehend proper hand signals and calculate the safe working load of any rigging arrangement using the Rigger's Pocket Guide. Participants will also determine the maximum safe working load for any rope sling, web sling or common rigging hard wear, and inspect the following rigging hard wear: wire rope slings, synthetic fiber slings, lifting hooks, shackles, eyebolts, wedge sockets, unbuckles. Students must wear personal protective equipment including a hard hat, safety glasses and steel toed boots. Course length: 12 hours |
Skid Steer Safety Certification |
This course is designed to introduce students to safe work practices involved in operating skid steer loaders. Students must successfully complete the theory and practical components of the course. Students must wear personal protective equipment including a hard hat, safety glasses and steel toed boots.
This course is eligible to earn 0.6 Continuing Education Unit Credits (CEU's) for Alberta's Water / Waste Water Operator Certification.

ZoomBoom/Telehandler/Variable Reach Forklift Safety Certification |
This training program is designed to meet the needs of rought terrain forklift operators. The course is ideal for all operators as it is designed to reinforce the importance of proper safety, inspections, hazards, safe operation and handling techniques. Students must wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses and steel toed boots. Course length: 8 hours |
Wheeled Loader/Front End Loader Safety Certification |
This course address inspection, safe operation, maintenance, guidelines, hazards, estimate loader production, and operating techniques. Students must successfully complete the theory and practical, components of the course. Students must wear personal protective equipment including a hard hat, safety glasses and steel toed boots. Course length: 8 hours |

Standard First Aid & Emergency First Aid |
Learn skills for adult, child and infant CP, including methods for rescue breathing, as well as procedures to address choking, bleeding, wounds, shock, unconsciousness, head, spinal and pelvic injuries, secondary survey, multiple casualty management, chest injuries, rescue carries, heat/cold emergencies, eye injuries, burns, poisions, medical conditions, and administering EPI pens and metered dose inhalers. New protocol changes and AED certification are also instructed. Course length: 8 or 16 hours |
Winter Workplace Safety (online) |
This interactive iLearn course consists of four modules that can be taken at your own pace. It offers students the modules to have the necessary training and tools to understand the dangers of falling ice and other winter workplace snow and ice hazards, before they begin employment on a job site. Course length: 3-4 hours Fee: $145 + GST |
Wildlife Awareness and Safety |
This wildlife awareness and safety seminar will provide participants with the necessary safety skills to live, work, and coexist with wildlife. This seminar will demonstrate the following objectives: identify and become familiar with northern wildlife ecology, learn how to avoid wildlife encounters, discover the necessary skills to deal with a wildlife encounter, understand how to effectively use non-lethal wildlife deterrents, such as bear spray. This course includes a hands-on field exercise where students will deploy bear spray with the intention of becoming compeyent and comfortable using this tool. Replacement Certificates
Keyano College can reprint Safety certificates for students that have taken the following courses within the past 3 years:
- Forklift
- Front End Loader/Wheeled Loader
- Rigging & Overhead Crane
- Skid Steer
- Zoom Boom
The fee for each safety certification card reprint is: $25 + GST, which you can pay for at the School of Continuing Education office, Bob Lamb Building, Room BL200.
You must bring a valid government-issued photo ID to receive the certificate.

CSTS: You can get CSTS replacement cards by printing them from your ACSA Student Services account (set up at registration), calling 1-800-661-2272 or emailing ACSA Support to order.
