After months of renovations following the devastating spring flood, Keyano College welcomed a crowd of approximately 50 including Mr. Sosthène Ngokila, Ambassador of Gabon to Canada, and MLA Laila Goodridge to the grand reopening of the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre (SSWC) following $10 million in repairs.

Joining Ambassador Ngokila and MLA Goodridge were Interim President and CEO Dale Mountain who began the proceeding along with Fred Russell, Vice-President Academic who said, “I had chills this morning walking up to the building and seeing people utilizing the high-performance room at 5 a.m. SSWC will have a staggered approach to opening with some pieces still to go but all facilities should be open later in the fall.  As a thank you, the first week will be free of charge to our customers.”

Also in attendance for the ceremony were many of the builders who were involved with the repairs, members of the Multi-Cultural Society, and a contingent from the Arctic Winter Games.  The reopening speeches were followed by the ribbon cutting with Ambassador Ngokila, MLA Goodridge, and Dale Mountain.
