Keyano College is pleased to announce that the Council of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) has approved its Practical Nurse Diploma Program for another four years as part of its accreditation review process. This approval allows the College to continue delivering the Practical Nurse Diploma program from February 2021 to January 2025.

During the comprehensive review, the CLPNA highlighted that Keyano College is very proud of the Practical Nurse program and has made significant investments to support and enhance students learning, as well as to develop clinical skills through simulation learning. This demonstrates the College’s commitment to teaching and shows the quality of our nursing instructors who are excellent role models. The program is also fortunate to have a strong collaborative relationship with Alberta Health Services and the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre which leads to employment in the profession.

Dr. Eli Ahlquist, Dean, School of Health and Human Services said, “We at Keyano College are thrilled at the decision by the CLPNA. Our team in the Health and Human Services has worked so hard to ensure that our department continues to offer students the education they will need to have a long and successful career in the nursing profession. This accreditation establishes that we have been on the right path and will allow students who choose to learn at Keyano to acquire the skills to not only advance their career but to serve those patients that they will get a chance to help.”

This four-year approval, which is the maximum available, affirms that the learner-centered education provided at Keyano College is of the highest quality and is a program that the CLPNA is proud of.
