Keyano College’s Board of Governors announces new chair and new member

(Fort McMurray, AB) – Keyano College is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Board Chair, Joe MacNeil. MacNeil a long-term board member, is Senior Director, Operations with Worley, and has been an engaged Fort McMurray community leader for 30 years.

 

MacNeil will be transitioning from outgoing Board Chair, Shelley Powell. Powell joined the Board of Governors in August 2019, when she was appointed by the newly formed UPC Government.  During her time as Board Chair, she helped guide the College through the COVID-19 pandemic and the Fort McMurray flood.

 

“Shelley has been a tremendous Chair of the Keyano College Board of Governors and we will miss her leadership”, said MacNeil.  “On behalf of all board members, we wish her all the best in her new pursuits and continued success in her new role at Suncor.”  

 

In addition, the board will be welcoming a new member, Michelle Toner, the Executive Director of the Northeastern Alberta Aboriginal Business Association. Toner is well known in the community and is committed to education and the economic growth of Fort McMurray/Wood Buffalo.
