Keyano College celebrated its partners, top donors, and volunteers through the return of its annual Friends of Keyano celebration on Thursday, May 2.

The event included a viewing of the Catalyst Theatre’s performance of The Invisible: Agents of Ungentlemanly Warfare. A highlight of the evening was a special presentation, in which awards for Partner of the Year, Donor of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year were presented. The awards were presented as follows.

  • 2019 Partner of the Year: Syncrude Canada

This award was accepted by Colleen Kearney, Vice President of Human Resources. Since 2007, Syncrude has contributed more than $8.5 million to support programs and projects at Keyano College. These donations have included funding for capital and program support, gifts in kind, student awards and endowments, the creation of co-op placements, and much more. The College has also been fortunate to have key Syncrude employees in leadership roles within the Keyano College Board of Governors, various steering committees, and advisory boards.

  • 2019 Donor of the Year: Maureen Hall

As a donor and a volunteer, Maureen Hall has made an indelible mark on our theatre and our arts community. A long-time resident of Fort McMurray, she also is an important supporter of many other community initiatives and organizations, including the Northern Lights Regional Hospital Foundation, Canadian Mental Health, Wood Buffalo Food Bank, Fort McMurray SPCA and the United Way. Her interest in supporting Keyano College, and in particular, Keyano Theatre & Arts Centre, comes from her interest in, commitment to, and dedication for, our Region’s arts community.

  • 2019 Volunteer of the Year: Mary Ann Campbell

As a Keyano employee, and as a volunteer, Mary Ann is very invested in Keyano. She supports the college in every way she can, including as a key volunteer at Convocation, the Golf Classic tournament, and the annual Keyano College Gala. She is also an important leader as the chair of the Keyano Employee Staff Association.
