On Thursday, March 2, Jay Notay, President & CEO of Keyano College, was among 15 post-secondary leaders awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, recognizing their significant contributions to Alberta.

Jay was born in Uganda and left in 1972 as a refugee, becoming a Canadian Citizen in 1977.

“For me, this recognition signifies the unity that the late Queen Elizabeth II promoted through her leadership. Having immigrated from one commonwealth to another, this unity has allowed me the freedom to serve and prosper, and for that, I am infinitely grateful”, says Notay.

Jay is a changemaker who consistently prioritizes equity and opportunity for students and has positively impacted each community he has served during his 25-year tenure in post-secondary leadership.

“I am humbled and honoured to have been nominated by the Ministry of Advanced Education alongside my peers from across this great province. Having the opportunity to serve Canadian communities is a privilege I am grateful for and a responsibility I will forever hold dear.”

Congratulations, President Notay!
