Front of House Volunteer

Usher – Be one of the faces of Keyano, when patrons arrive at the Theatre, hand out programs and help them to their seats. Shine a light for patrons if they arrive or have to leave in the dark and get to watch some fabulous entertainment!

Ticket Taker – Be the host of the Theatre when patrons arrive, greet them and make sure they get to the ushers inside the theatre.

Technical

Wardrobe (stitcher/builder) – Have a way with a sewing machine? We have jobs for you! We sometimes build up to a hundred pieces for a show and we can always use someone who loves to sew. Stay in the wardrobe shop and work or bring projects home. We also have smaller projects that don’t require a machine, or projects that are more of the hot glue variety, for those of you who are crafty.

Wardrobe (dresser) - Have a passion for fashion but are not the sewing type? Fear not! Many of our shows have a need for Dressers. As a dresser you will help actors get into costumes and with hair and make-up. Then put your brain into quick mode as many of our actors require assistance when they are making quick costume changes to get onstage fast!

Spotlight Operator (Followspot) – Shine a light on the stars! For our musicals we require follow spot operators who, you guessed it, follow the actors onstage with our Spot Lights. This is a fun dynamic way to watch a show!

Running Crew – On our shows we always have a need for some people who do odd jobs backstage, from scene changes to making sure actors have their props, the possibilities are endless, you are down on the ground floor with the actors helping make the magic happen!

Fly Operator – Keyano Theatre is equipped with an awesome Fly Tower where we will fly in set pieces on a counterweight system. You could pull the ropes and have a bird’s eye view of the show!

Sound Assistant – Ever wondered how we hide those microphones on the actors? Well this is your chance to find out. As Sound Assistant you’ll be helping our Head of Sound put mics on the actors and then you’ll pressing the GO button on the sound effects and music!

Assistant Stage Manager – Be involved with every aspect of production! Assisting the Stage Manager in running rehearsals, making sure all the props are where they need to be, before they need to be there and then once on stage making sure the show runs completely smooth (with the help of your running crew) and that the actors are taken care of. This little department packs a punch as they hold the strings to the entire package!

Carpentry – Have some carpentry skills but never get to use them? You’ve always wanted to learn some carpentry? Let us know, we build a bunch of shows every year and can always use a bit of help, and think of how awesome it’ll feel to see your work onstage!

Backstage Crew for concerts - Get up close to the action while working Backstage on our Syncrude Arts Alive season. Making sure the act gets onstage and has all the water they need!

Audition Assistant – Not ready for an audition but still want in on the fun? We can always use someone to pep talk the "auditioners" and help them fill out their forms and get ready.

Guest Artist Support

Local Transportation / Backstage Host– Occasionally we require a driver to help our visiting Artists get around town or being a host and ensuring we are ready for them. Daytime, evening and weekend shifts are required. This position does require certain requirements, please contact us at arts.volunteer@keyano.ca for more details.

To assist you in getting involved Nikki MacDonnell is our volunteer coordinator and can be reached at arts.volunteer@keyano.ca Please feel free to contact her anytime with any questions or concerns you may have.

At Keyano Theatre we hope that you will have fun playing with us while learning some new skills.
