Keyano Huskies men's volleyball sign letter of intent for Westwood Community High School students Ian Bruce and Simon Tremblay

For immediate release

Tuesday January 16, 2018

Keyano College Athletics are pleased to announce the signing of a letter of intent for Westwood Community High School (WCSH) students Ian Bruce (left in photo) and Simon Tremblay (right in photo) for the 2018-2019 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) men’s volleyball season.

At the signing earlier today at WCHS, Tremblay, a setter, said: “I am very excited to play next year. It was definitely something I wanted to do for a while.”

Bruce, a 6-foot-3 middle, added: “I am definitely an undersized middle and it is something that I am accepting the challenge for. I have confidence in my skills...that I will be able to adjust to it. I am excited to be entering the ACAC level.”

Huskies men’s volleyball head coach Keegan Kuhr (centre in photo) said of Tremblay: “Simon has really good hands for a young setter. We have had him out at practice a few times and I like his demeanour and hands. He needs a little bit of work on speed and setting the tempo.”

Of Bruce, Kuhr said: “He will start off in the middle with us. He is only 6-foot-3 but an athletic 6-foot-3 kid that jumps well and is really fast.”

Huskies are currently ranked No. 5 in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association polls and have an ACAC record of 13 matches won, 2 matches lost with 41 sets won and 14 sets lost.

Huskies have been members of the ACAC since 1985.
