Keyano Huskies host Canada’s National Men's Sitting Volleyball Team
Keyano Huskies men’s volleyball team, Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) 2017-2018 silver medalists, will host Canada’s National Men’s Sitting Volleyball Team Friday August 31, 2018 at 7 p.m. in an exhibition match at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre.
General admission is by donation.
“It will be an exciting best-of-five series,” said Huskies men’s volleyball head coach Keegan Kuhr. “It will be tough. Some people may think (sitting volleyball) is not that hard. I have tried it before and I bet you...my guys are going to struggle.
“It takes a lot of core strength and lateral movement. Luckily their coach Jeff Smith (who coached previously in the ACAC with Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves) will be taking us through some training sessions prior to the match.
“Fans will be able to see several returning Huskies players and a few new Huskies players, including Brandon University Bobcats transfers, 6-foot-4 Liam Matheson (Tauranga, New Zealand) and 6-foot-2 libero Joel Makara (Selkirk, Manitoba). You will also have a chance to see amazing (sitting volleyball) athletes as they pursue their Paralympic dreams.”
A dinner and silent auction in support of the Keyano Huskies men's volleyball program and Canada's Men's Paralympic Volleyball program, will be held September 1, 2018 starting at 6 p.m. at the Wood Buffalo Brewing Company. Tickets $25 Contact firstname.lastname@example.org
