2018 Junior Huskies Basketball Camp will be held August 20-24, 2018 at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre. Open to athletes Grades 4-12, sessions will run from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Instruction from Keyano Huskies coaches, including men’s head coach Jeremy Wielenga and women’s head coach Dwayne Vigilance, along with Keyano Huskies players. Focus on individual skill development and team play.  Cost is $125. Info 780-791-7792.

Keyano Huskies women finished first in the 2017-2018 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) regular season with a 18 win 6 loss record and were ranked as high as No. 4 in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association polls. Keyano men finished 5th last year in the ACAC playoffs.

Keyano Huskies men's and women's basketball results from Day 2 at 2017-2018 ACAC Basketball Championships

Keyano Huskies women's basketball team lost to the Olds College Broncos 67-59 this afternoon at the 2017-2018 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Women's Basketball championships in Calgary, Alberta  hosted by the SAIT Trojans.

 

Danielle McClelland  led the Huskies with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Augusta Kievisaite added 11 points, along with 5 steals and 7 rebounds.

 

The No.1 seed in the North and ranked No. 4 by the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association, the Huskies were upset in their opening game Thursday, losing to the No. 4 seed in the South, the St. Mary's Lightning, by a 65-60 score.

 

Huskies are now out of tournament play.

Keyano Huskies men’s basketball team defeated the Red Deer Kings 89-80 this afternoon at the the 2017-2018 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championships in Lethbridge, Alberta.

 

Leading scorer for the Huskies was Jo Michel with 29 points to go along with 6 rebounds. Chris Oppong added 19 points and 8 assists.

 

Huskies will now play in the 5th/6th placement game tomorrow Saturday March 3, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at Val Matteotti Gymnasium.

 

They will play against the winner of the Lethbridge Kodiaks vs. Medicine Hat Rattlers match-up.

 

Huskies, No. 4 seed in the North, lost their opening match Thursday in overtime 82-81 to the No. 1 seed in the South, the SAIT Trojans

Four Keyano Huskies honoured as ACAC men's and women's basketball All Conference. Stefan Jovcic selected as the 2017-18 ACAC Men's Basketball North Rookie of the Year

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Stefan Jovcic of the Keyano College Huskies has been selected as the 2017-18 ACAC Men's Basketball North Rookie of the Year sponsored by Basketball Alberta

Jovcic, a 6-foot-6 forward from Mississauga, ON, is a 32% three- point shooter, averaging 7.8 rebounds and 15.2 points per game.

 

"As a freshman, it is not easy to balance time on the court with time in the classroom but Stefan has been able to do this very well. He is continuing to earn the credits needed for his program of studies and has been able to put together a very impressive rookie season as part of a newly rebuilt Huskies basketball team. He has become a leader within his team and is well liked by students and faculty on campus.  Huskies Athletics is extremely proud of Stefan this season and I think the league will see him accomplish even more next season." Enrolled in University Studies, Jovcic led the Huskies in points-per-game and field goal percentage.

 

This prestigious award was presented to Stefan Jovcic at the 2018 ACAC Men's Basketball Championship Ceremony held on February 28, 2018 at Lethbridge College.

 

 

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce the student-athletes who have been selected by the Conference Coaches to the 2017-18 Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams. These awards were presented at the 2018 ACAC Men's Basketball Championship on February 28th in Lethbridge, AB. hosted by the Lethbridge College Kodiaks.
