Girl Power

Girl Power is a health and wellness event for grade 5 girls in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.The intent of the event is to expose grade 5 girls to empowering activities in a conference like setting. The goal of the event is to encourage youth to remain active and make positive choices as they get older by introducing them to a variety of activities targeted toward healthy living.

For Girl Power 2014 a total of 448 grade 5 girls registered for sessions, such as soccer, volleyball, track, kickboxing, aboriginal games, yoga, and Zumba. We would like to thank our volunteer instructors and sponsors from The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, InMotion Network, Save on Foods and Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre for making the event possible.

This year, the event will take place on May 13 at Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre. Our Steering Committee has representation from Be Fit For Life, Alberta Sport Development Centre, Keyano College, Alberta Health Services, Apple Schools, Girls Inc., and The Regional Muncipality of Wood Buffalo.

Mega Boyz

Mega Boyz is a health and wellness event for grade 5 boys in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.The intent of the event is to expose grade 5 boys to empowering activities in a conference like setting. The goal of the event is to encourage youth to remain active and make positive choices as they get older by introducing them to a variety of activities targeted toward healthy living.

For Mega Boyz 2014 a total of 421 grade 5 boys registered for sessions such as floor hockey, Tae Kwon Do, track, soccer, volleyball, floor hockey, Air Cadets, and aborginal games. We would like to thank our volunteer instructors and sponsors from the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Save on Foods, and Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre for making the event possible.

This year the event will take place at Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre on May 27. Our Steering Committee has representation from Be Fit For Life, Alberta Sport Development Centre, Keyano College, Alberta Health Services, Apple Schools, and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
