A smattering of rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm at the renowned Keyano College Golf Classic on Saturday, June 2 as good food and fun ruled the day at the Fort McMurray Golf Club.
The event saw a huge outpouring of support from the people and businesses of the Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo area. Thanks to more than 40 sponsors, and 160 golfers, the Golf Classic raised more than $145,000 in support of Keyano students, educational programs, scholarships and campus development.
The annual fundraiser saw golfers compete for prizes and advantages through creative activities and games throughout the day to highlight services and programs within our community college. The event wrapped up with an auction and banquet in the evening.
Keyano College’s Interim President & CEO Dr. Brenda Sautner thanked all who took part, including the 40 volunteers who helped out. She noted the event is the second only to the College’s annual Gala in its significance as a fundraiser.
“The Golf Classic provides an important way for the College to bring its friends and community partners together for a celebration,” she said. “Every single donation or sponsorship makes an impact on our students.”
