(Fort McMurray, AB – November 7, 2016) – Friends and supporters gathered Saturday night to celebrate the community and post-secondary education in Wood Buffalo at the Keyano College Foundation’s annual Gala, presented by ATB Financial.
Approximately $300,000 was raised, net profit, to support Keyano College students, programming, athletics, theatre, and infrastructure improvements at the College.
“We want to thank our sponsors and donors for their commitment to Keyano College,” said Melane Leblanc, Director of Engagement with the Keyano College Foundation. “Their support as an investment in the future of this community as our graduates fill many roles in many different sectors throughout the region.”
Eighty-four sponsors participated in the black-tie event, while local retail, health and wellness, and hospitality businesses offered their services, and donated items for raffles and auctions.
“It was also important for us to use local services and support local businesses,” added Leblanc. “Given all that has happened in the last few months, we really wanted to use this year’s Gala as an opportunity to celebrate our resilient community. “
In addition to auctions and a variety of raffles, guests enjoyed performances from country trio Hey Romeo, home grown country-pop singer-songwriter Shantelle Davidson, and the eclectic DJ Q-Pid.
