(Fort McMurray, AB – November 6, 2018) – More than 900 guests gathered Saturday evening, November 3, to celebrate and raise funds for students and post-secondary education in Wood Buffalo at the Keyano College Gala, presented by Birch Mountain Enterprises Ltd.

The Gala is the College’s major annual fund raising event. A highlight saw Canadian Natural commit $600,000 for the 10 year naming rights for the Canadian Natural Gymnasium and the Canadian Natural Field House. The Gala also raised another $150,000 to support students, programming, athletics, theatre, and infrastructure improvements at the College.

“On behalf of Keyano College, I would like to thank all our partners, donors, and friends for supporting Gala and investing in the future of Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo,” said Dr. Trent Keough, President and CEO, Keyano College. “The tremendous support we receive every year is an important reminder of how generous our community is.”

Dr. Keough also acknowledged the hard work of College staff and the many volunteers who helped make the Gala a success.

Some of this year’s highlights included the Masters of Ceremonies: local youth mentors and Amazing Race Canada stars Dylan Elias and Kwame Osei. Guests also enjoyed performances by iconic Canadian rock band The Trews, which brought down the house with fan favourites as well as some exciting new songs from their new album Civilianaires.

The College thanked all sponsors who participated this year, as well as local retail and hospitality businesses who offered their services throughout the evening, and donated items for raffles and auctions.
