Keyano opens printshop to foster art in the community

Here's Keyano's New Year's gift for the artists in our community - the printshop will be open for renting to qualified printmakers effective immediately. Located in the Norm Weiss Art Centre, the state-of-the-art printshop provides print-artists with the ability to produce work in a professional, safe environment. Alberta Arts Days wrapped up with a talent-laden showcase on the Keyano Theatre mainstage on Saturday, September 19. The event, which began last year as "Alberta Arts Day" in 30 communities, grew into "Alberta Arts Days" this year with over 150 communities participating and over 500 events. Independent study art courses launched to foster community artists

Keyano College is putting out the call for musicians in response to declining numbers in their three community ensemble programs. November 18 turned out to be a memorable day for Lindsey Herle and Patricia Chai. Both received silver medals from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Calgary that day for achieving the highest mark in their grade level in Alberta.Herle, 15, and Chai, 13 are students of Peter Ellis, Chair of the Visual & Performing Arts department and strings instructor.
