Joy and tax? Difficult but do-able when you have Lorn Stanners, CMA on your side. He will be headlining the second event for the Money Matters series on Saturday, March 13 in the Clearwater Campus - Room 228.

As income tax deadline approaches on April 30, this is your chance to ask questions and learn the rules from an expert, who has been in the field for over three decades and who tackles Canada Revenue Agency daily.

Stanners has about a dozen pertinent topics he will discuss a few of which include:

  • Should you incorporate your rental properties?
  • How to Increase your home office claim?
  • How to save money on GST.
  • The $2,373 CRA wants to give you.
  • The overlooked reasons to incorporate.

Sarah Imran, Workforce Development Coordinator, Keyano College oversees the series. She is excited to welcome Stanners, who is a regular tax expert on Breakfast TV, has written numerous articles for investment newsletters, papers and other publications.

"Lorn has presented for CIBC, Business Link, Investors Group, Vitalize Conference, Toastmasters, Alberta Government and others. This is not a workshop to prepare taxes, but an opportunity to walk away with invaluable tax tips," explained Imran.

"He works with a wide cross-section of people including: trades people, professionals, business owners, real estate investors, salaried employees, retirees and others saving them money. He is known for his down-to-earth approachable style as both a professional accountant and speaker," added Imran.

The workshop will run from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Cost is $198 plus GST.
