Friday, February 5, may be the day you have been waiting for. It's the start of Keyano's two-day annual Career & Summer Job Fair and not only do you get to network but there's a a trip for two to Las Vegas and a flat screen television available as draw prizes.
The event will be held in the Syncrude Sport & Wellness in conjunction with Alberta Employment & Immigration and Wood Buffalo Big Spirit. The Fair, now in its fourth year, has continually grown since its inception and last year showcased over 50 exhibitor booths, with 2,000 participants attending.
Kerry Ferguson, Career Services Coordinator, Trades & Heavy Industrial Division, Keyano College, says a number of organizations will be conducting information sessions on the main stage, which will provide company overviews and information for potential employees.
"Visitors are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes and cover letters and keep in mind, first impressions are lasting, dress for success," Ferguson says.
Debbie O'Halloran, Chair, Career & Counselling Services, Keyano College agrees. She is overseeing the event this year and says a "Keyano College information booth will be available for visitors interested in continuing with their education or planning on starting a new career."
The purpose of the Career & Summer Job Fair is to bring employers and future employees together in one location for the benefit of all. Employers have an opportunity to provide information sessions about their organizations, meet potential new hires, accept resumes, and possibly interview candidates for available positions on the spot, or make arrangements for future interviews.
Companies like Syncrude Canada Limited, Suncor Energy, ATCO Electric, FT Services, Keyano College and the Fort McMurray Catholic Schools, to name a few, will be attending the event.
Even if you are not currently seeking employment opportunities, visiting a career fair is a great way to learn about the variety of organizations that are operating in your community. Come visit Keyano College's 2010 Career & Summer Job Fair Friday, February 5 from 2 pm to 9 pm and Saturday, February 6, 2010 from 10 am to 4 pm.
