Imperial Donation Enhances Water Stewardship Through Keyano College's Environmental Technology Program

Posted On Tuesday March 26, 2024

Fort McMurray, Alberta, March 26, 2024 – Keyano College proudly announces a contribution of $50,000 from Imperial in support of the school’s Environmental Technology program, specifically targeting the enhancement of water quality education. This generous donation reaffirms Imperial's dedication to fostering educational excellence, community progression, and responsible water management, which are vital elements of environmental stewardship.

Approximately half of the funds donated will be used to improve laboratory materials, enhancing the water quality class to provide practical learning experiences. The funds will also support offsite water testing, allowing students to contribute directly to local water conservation efforts and gain hands-on experience in preserving this important resource.

The remaining donation will be allocated for student awards, with the objective of bolstering enrollment and supporting students, particularly from Indigenous and RMWB communities, in their journey to become water stewardship ambassadors.

This contribution underlines the shared commitment of Keyano College and Imperial to water resource education and support for the next wave of environmental professionals. These initiatives also strengthen local capacities to manage water resources more effectively — a fundamental aspect of ensuring sustainable ecosystems and human health.
