Video Conferencing
Keyano College's multi-point video conferencing system is located in Room 267 at the Clearwater Campus (main campus). It is operated by the Suncor Educational Technology Centre staff. It is available for booking for outside agencies. For information regarding booking, fees, policies, and any other questions, please contact us.
- Notes:
- An orientation is required for first time users of the facility. In order to get the most out of the technology, a full training session is recommended. Support is available but often not required.
- Keyano classes take priority. We will do our best to accomodate all requests, but not all times may be available.
A Little History
The videoconference facilities began in a three-way partnership between Keyano College, Syncrude Canada Ltd., and Telus. Telus provided the early telecommunications equipment, Syncrude provided the first room and shared in the cost of the renovations with Keyano College. Since that time, the video conferencing technology at Keyano College has grown and changed significantly and continue to be an integral part of communications with our outer community, our regional campuses, and distance education delivery.
Users of our facilities have included pharmacutical companies, utility companies, and private users. The furthest site called to date is Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Many calls have been made to both coasts of Canada and across the United States. There are video sites throughout Europe, Australia, Africa, Asia, and should you need to call them, the space shuttle.
