Life in Canada’s Energy Capital
Keyano College’s main campus is nestled in the downtown core of Fort McMurray, Alberta, where the opportunities for work and play are endless. Whether you’re an outdoorsy kind of person or like to stay inside, there really is something for everyone.
Aside from our programs in Trades, University Studies, Business, Childhood Studies, Environmental Technology and Human & Community Services, we also offer courses in dance, music, and visual arts as part of our Conservatory.
Keyano’s own theatre offers concerts (like George Canyon and Rick Mercer) and plays (Calendar Girls, Extremities) as well as lectures and guest speakers (most recent being Kyle MacDonald, the guy who traded a red paperclip for a house). Events Wood Buffalo also offers a plethora of activities for all age groups, including more concerts and festivals (like Interplay and Nexen’s Canada Rocks).
Love sports? Why not check out a Huskies Hockey game at the Casman Centre? Our school also has Basketball, Volleyball and Soccer. If you prefer playing over watching, grab a pickup game or hit the weights at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre. Our annual One on One banquet will also give you the opportunity to rub elbows with a star athlete like last year’s Wayne Gretzky or 2013’s Mark Messier.
There’s also ice fishing, learning about the oil sands at the Oil Sands Discovery Centre, going back in time at Heritage Park, or go rock climbing at the world-class MacDonald Island!
If none of this sounds appealing to you, you can always check out Connect’s 101 Things to Do in Wood Buffalo.
