Indigenous Careers Award

Indigenous Careers Award encourage Indigenous Albertans to pursue and complete post-secondary studies that lead to high demand careers in Alberta. Students enrolled in full-time studies in eligible programs can receive $2000 per semester.

Students must be enrolled in the 2017-2018 Fall and/or Winter semester in order to be considered for these awards.

Student must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be Status Indian/First Nations, Non-Status Indian/First Nations, Metis or Inuit (applicants must provide a copy of proof of Indigenous ancestry when applying)
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have protected person status under Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Be a resident of Alberta
  • Be enrolled in at least 60% of a full course load (40% of a full course load for a student with a permanent disability).
  • Be enrolled in a certificate, diploma, applied or bachelor’s degree program.
  • Achieve a GPA of at least 1.70 or equivalent in the preceding year of studies.

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (years 1 – 3)

    • Business Administration Accounting certificate & diploma

    • Business Administration Management certificate & diploma

    • Early Learning & Childcare certificate

    • Educational Assistant certificate

    • Emergency Medical Technician certificate

    • Environmental Technology diploma

    • Health Care Aide certificate

    • Human Resource Management certificate

    • Office Administration
    • Power Engineering CO-OP

    • Practical Nurse diploma

    • Process Operators CO-OP

    • Social Work diploma

    • University Studies

        • B. Comm.

        • B. Ed.

        • B. Sc.

        • B. Eng.

        • B. S. W.
