CLASS 1 MANDATORY ENTRY LEVEL TRAINING (MELT)** PROGRAM AND CLASS 3 DRIVER TRAINING 

**Effective March 1, 2019 standardized entry level training is mandatory for all new class 1 commercial drivers. Training includes a number of government mandated training hours, standardized curriculum and knowledge/road tests for Class 1 drivers. For more information visit www.alberta.ca. Dates for Class 1 MELT program will be scheduled at a later time.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Currently we are awaiting a Government Examiner for road test evaluations in the Fort McMurray region. Keyano College is moving forward with the Class 3 training and will invite students back to the road test evaluations when dates become available. Should students wish to locate somewhere else for the exams, they can do so as they please.


Our Class 3 Driver Training program will provide our students with sufficient training to complete their Road Test with the Alberta Registry.

April 23 – April 28, 2019
May 21 – May 26, 2019
June 17 – June 23, 2019

Training outline includes:
- Air Brakes Q Endorsement 
*Students MUST complete their Air Brakes Q Endorsement & their Class 3 Knowledge Test prior to class start date. Initial tuition will cover the cost of the Air Brake Q Endorsement course, however students must schedule to attend a session before the class start date.

UPCOMING AIR BRAKES TRAINING:

May 25 - 26, 2019
June 22 - 23, 2019

- Approx. 30 hours truck training
*This includes; observation time, real time driving, backing techniques, walk-around practice, real-time driving, etc.

-Scheduling of a road test with the Alberta Registry.

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS:

- Students MUST have a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license (NO GDL RESTRICTION).
- Students MUST have a copy of their drivers abstract from the previous 3 years.
*Students MUST NOT have no more than 6 demerit reductions and NO driver suspensions.

The purchase of the Driver's Exam permit with the Alberta Registry is a responsibility of the student. Keyano College will book and arrange exam times.
