INDUSTRY IS HIRING!
Work Placement changes effective January 2016 include:
Interviews will be conducted by Keyano and industry representatives from Syncrude, Suncor and Shell prior to admission in the program. Students will be aware if they are well suited for work with industry prior to spending their time and money on the course.
Work placements for intakes will now be blended. All three partners will be selecting from each intake, students must successfully complete the course and employment requirement set by industry. Our sponsors determine their employment needs on a quarterly basis, these are established prior to acceptance into the intakes.
Keyano College's four-week Haul Truck Operator course is designed to provide participants with essential skills needed to operate a haul truck safely and efficiently, based on manufacturer's recommendations and industry operating standards. Students who successfully complete the course will be prepared for entry level Haul Truck Operator positions.
We have implemented changes to blend the Haul Truck intakes and work placements for the course effective January 2016. Students who successfully complete the course have the opportunity for placement with any of our industry partners from all intakes. Our partners include Syncrude, Suncor and Shell.
Students will complete instructor guided, computer based instruction as part of their course theory. OH&S Legislation and AMSA Certification is also included in the theory portion of the course. The practical component is based on Caterpillar 797 and Komatsu 930e Haul Truck Simulators. Participants receive complete, consistent and objective feedback on their performance and simulate emergency situations in a safe and controlled environment. During the course students will also participate in a ride along or a site tour with one of our industry partners.
The course runs monthly from September to June and is conducted at the Suncor Energy Industrial Campus located at 160 MacKenzie Boulevard in Fort McMurray.
