Keyano College is seeking a Safety Advisor.  This position acts as advisor and coach to employees and leaders, and a liaison with external regulating Health and Safety agencies.  The primary purpose of the role is to provide the stewardship and governance for the College safety programs.   Safety is the core focus of this role.  It is a critical component of the overall Safety Program development and implementation at the College.  This is a full-time, permanent position that will commence immediately.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of HR, the Safety Advisor will work in partnership with academic and administrative departments to develop, implement and monitor programs which promote workplace safety and environmental protection for all members of the campus community.  The Safety Advisor will be responsible for interpreting and applying a wide range of legislation and policy, providing advice and guidance, exercising professional discretion in service delivery and maintaining positive working relationships with a diverse group of clients.  This position requires the incumbent maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within the College, Health Services, Finance and members of the JWH&S Committee.

Qualifications

  • Must have a College diploma or University degree in a related field
  • Minimum 7 years of industrial experience in an EH&S role with primary focus on Health and Safety
  • Or equivalent combination of qualifications acceptable by the employer
  • Recognized professional certification in the safety discipline (CRSP, ROH, CIH) is considered an asset
  • Experience in auditing systems, occupational health and safety management systems and formal risk assessment training
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, investigation and problem solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including data analysis abilities

Salary

Compensation is competitive and includes a comprehensive health and benefit package.

This position qualifies for the Regional Living Allowance of $1040.00 per month (subject to review).
